The purpose of this report is to compare the design of prestressed cylindrical shell without edge beams with that for a prestressed cylindrical shell with edge beams.

A description of the methods of analysis is presented and comparisons made between the two designs in terms of stress distributions. Cost considerations for the two designs are also made.
